Ann Chandler Pastore grew up with a love for the arts and an affinity for the challenges of creativity. Classes in Drawing, Art History, and Architectural History throughout her youth furthered an energetic interest and drive within the world of design.
This interest grew into a concentrated study while at the College of Charleston, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in Studio Art, with an emphasis in drawing and painting. Her education thus far had trained her to observe the fundamental principles of design: color, shape, depth, and line. The surrounding beauty, culture, history, and architectural uniqueness of Charleston inspired this study to grow into a real passion to learn more, and aspire to be part of the world of design.
Ann Chandler decided to return to the classroom and enrolled at the Savannah College of Art and Design in Savannah, Georgia, where she earned Master of Arts degrees in Interior Design and Historic Preservation. Her education at SCAD taught many aspects that are carried over into her career today. Design has several layers of dynamic including function, flow, sustainability, and the experience of the end user, as well as conceptual development—all selections, materials, finishes, and design elements relate to the central concept in order to form a cohesive overall design.
In her professional career, Ann Chandler continues to focus on these fundamentals and survey opportunities in the important “green” design field of adaptive reuse, a practice which combines her two passions and educational fortes. Haute Design is the ideal environment for exploring and contributing to both of these avenues, with its diverse scope of projects and wide variety of renovation design projects.
